    Description
Powell, Wyoming – 125 Black & BWF Bred Heifers, AI calving March 20–25 with bull-bred heifers calving April 1–25. This is a good-bodied, even set of locally sourced bred heifers with a lot of breeding and selection behind them. They are 100% black hided with approximately 20% BWFs and carry a 2-iron. A total of 149 head were exposed, with approximately 10% opens expected, leaving plenty of cattle behind them to sort a good set of 125. The heifers were AI bred June 11–14 to Arrowhead, a proven SimAngus calving-ease sire from ABS. Arrowhead brings a combination of calving ease, muscle, shape, and maternal genetics that should make an excellent mating on these heifers. The AI-bred females are expected to calve March 20–25. Following AI, the heifers were exposed for 30 days to low birth weight Black Angus cleanup bulls. The bull-bred heifers should calve April 1–25. They will be ultrasounded to separate the AI-bred and bull-bred groups, giving buyers the ability to purchase a very defined calving window rather than buying them all together. These heifers have been running out and developed on a high-roughage ration of hay, straw, silage, and barley. They are good-bodied, even cattle that have been developed practically without getting overly fleshy. Will gate cut and sell in smaller groups, making these a good opportunity for buyers who don't need an entire semi load. Buyers can target the early AI-bred March calvers, the April bull-bred heifers, or put together a larger group.
