Smart Lil Nougat is the kind of young gelding whose experience shows the minute you swing a leg over him. At just four years old, he already carries himself with the confidence and composure of a horse that has spent plenty of time doing a real job.
This 2022 buckskin AQHA gelding came off a great hand and has already seen more real life than plenty of horses twice his age. He knows what a full day’s work is. He has been used at sale barns loading trucks and moving cattle, has roped cattle out in the pasture, and has spent plenty of time outside the confines of an arena. That kind of experience is hard to duplicate, and it shows every time you get on him.
Nougat is about as unflappable as they come. If you find something that truly scares him, you have worked pretty hard to do it! He has had kids ride him around the ranch and take him down the trail, and he carries himself with the quiet confidence of a horse that has been there and done a job.
In the arena, he is every bit as enjoyable. He has three lovely gaits, is soft in the bridle, and has a big, correct stop. He has the training to make him fun to ride, but what really sets him apart is that all of that training is backed by genuine working experience.
On the ground, he is just as easy. He is easy to catch, hauls like a dream, and will stand tied anywhere you put him. Tie him up, go about your business, and he will be standing right there when you get back.
I also had the opportunity to speak directly with the man who owned and used Nougat, and he simply couldn’t say enough good about this gelding. That kind of recommendation means something when it comes from the person who knows the horse and has put the miles on him.
Yes, he is only four years old. But between his training, breeding, disposition, and the amount of real-world experience already under his belt, he is as gentle and seasoned as you could ever hope for in a young horse.
