36 Angus, Hereford - Bred Heifers
Description
Billings, Montana – 36 Black Angus & Angus Cross Bred Heifers weighing approximately 1,050 lbs, calving August 25–October 29, shipping July 30.
This is a quality offering of 36 grass-developed bred heifers selected for conformation, disposition, and hardiness. Purchased as 300-pound Number 1 and Number 2 heifer calves from the Yellowstone County area, these females have been developed in a low-input program focused on functional, grass-efficient cattle. They are the practical kind that should make productive, easy-keeping cows.
The offering consists primarily of Black and Red Angus heifers along with Hereford and Hereford-cross females. They were exposed by natural service beginning November 15 for a 65-day breeding season to low birth weight Indreland Angus bulls from Big Timber, Montana. These sires were selected for their grass genetics, calving ease, and efficient, high-performing offspring. Approximately half of the heifers settled in the first cycle, with the balance bred in the second cycle, resulting in a calving season from August 25 through October 29.
These heifers have been developed almost entirely on forage. They were raised on grass and grass-alfalfa pastures, supplemented with grass and alfalfa hay through the winter, and maintained on a complete Redmond salt and mineral program. The result is a well-conditioned set of females that have not been pushed and are ready to transition into a productive commercial cow herd.
Their health program includes Vision 7 as calves, Virashield 6 prior to breeding, MultiMin 90, and Cydectin pour-on. Carrying good condition and bred for calving ease, these heifers should have no trouble handling their first calves while fitting well into a low-input commercial operation.Specifications
