Description
Whitehall, Montana – 70 Black Angus Cross Yearling Heifers at 930 lbs, shipping in NOVEMBER.
This is an exceptional set of yearling spayed heifers that come in a rare time of year. These big-framed, home-raised heifers are sorted from approximately 80 head, though we usually only have to gate cut the cattle for weight. Shipping in late October to early November, they come at a time of year when yearlings are scarce. It'll be nice break from bawling calves when these come in.
These heifers are over three-quarter Angus with Limousin influence and are 100% black hided. The ranch has built its cow herd around productive, high-quality females that consistently wean heavy calves, with many of these heifers weaning 575 lbs or better. Sires are primarily sourced from Armstrong Angus, a program well known for uniformity, carcass merit, and marbling, while select Continental genetics are incorporated to add frame, muscle, and growth. The result is a powerful set of heifers with the genetics to gain efficiently and excel on the grid.
Summered on forest grazing permits in the Ruby Mountains, these heifers have to work hard in rugged country that builds muscle. They are gathered from the mountains in mid-October before spending two to three weeks on regrowth hay meadows prior to shipping. Buyers can expect them to be light-fleshed set carrying plenty of muscle and an outstanding gain curve. Their combination of frame, age, and genetics gives them tremendous upside for feeding programs, with the potential to finish at well over 1,600 pounds depending on the program.
These are true performance cattle with hybrid vigor, exceptional carcass potential, and the kind of growth genetics that continue adding value throughout the feeding period. Their quality, uniformity, and late shipping date make them a rare opportunity for buyers looking to fill pens with cattle capable of performing from arrival through harvest.
