VV Whiskey Drinkin C aka: "Paddy"
- 15.1H, 2022' bay AQHA gelding
"Paddy"…as he is affectionately called around here, is one handy ranching unit and the kind of horse that makes you feel like you’ve got something real underneath you. He came off the Paramount set and is the last of that set of horses that will be available for this season. He spent last year being used to ranch on and has already been hauled to a couple of spring brandings this year, and it shows in the way he carries himself and handles a job. While he will absolutely walk, trot, lope, stop, and turn around just fine riding around in the arena… that’s not where he really shines! - Paddy is the kind that comes alive when he has a job to do. Give him a purpose and a direction, and he steps up in a way that is fun, useful, and impressive. He gets it done ol' son! He has a natural work ethic and wants to have a mission, but he is also content to just ride around and be enjoyed - making him a great fit for someone who wants a “real horse” feel without needing to be a full-time cowboy to get along with him. At just four years old, he is already very solid in his mind and body, super sound, never been injured, and in great shape with a long future ahead of him. He has the kind of foundation that someone handier or more competitive could step in, put some polish on, and easily take him on to the bigger ranch gelding or rope horse sales and do very well with him as a re-sale project.
His pedigree is as good as it gets and stacked with proven, world-class bloodlines including High Brow Cat, Gay Bar King, High Brow Hickory, Paddys Irish Whiskey, and CD Olena … all right on his papers, not buried several generations back. He has the breeding, the ability, and the start to go in a lot of different directions depending on what his next owner wants to do with him.
On top of that, he is just an easy horse to have around. He has no vices, is easy to catch, and anyone can saddle him up and go ride. He is uncomplicated in every way and genuinely enjoys being out and about. He recently went to a St. Patrick’s Day parade in the big city and he handled the chaos like a seasoned veteran … crowds, noise, drunk people running up to him, petting him all over - and he took it all in stride and seemed to enjoy the attention. That kind of mindset is hard to find, especially in a young, athletic working horse.
This is a great gelding that is going to be a valuable asset to his next owner for a long time. Horses like this, with this kind of real-world experience, mindset, and pedigree at this age, do not come along every day, and we do not expect him to last long.
