Description
Watford City, North Dakota – 50 Black Angus and Red Angus Heifer Calves at 525 lbs, shipping October 20, 2026.
Good set of ranch-raised heifer calves coming from a young cattleman focused on producing practical, high-quality feeder cattle. These heifers are sorted from approximately 80 head after replacement females were retained, leaving a strong group of commercial heifers with plenty of quality and value. Predominantly Black Angus with a small percentage of Red Angus influence, these heifers offer a nice combination of growth, functionality, and maternal strength.
The cow herd is built around medium to large framed Angus-cross cows weighing 1,400 to 1,500 lbs that are expected to consistently wean big, quality calves. Breeding bulls are Jacobson Simmental-influenced sires carrying approximately 25% Simmental genetics, selected for muscling and performance. The result is a set of heifers with extra body, shape, and growth potential while still maintaining the practicality and longevity commercial cattlemen appreciate.
These heifers are carrying medium flesh, are healthy, and have been developed on native dryland pasture. They are the hardy, practical kind that should fit well in a backgrounding program, on grass, or as an opportunity to add value through further development. With replacement females already retained from the top end, buyers can be confident these heifers come from a cow herd built around productivity and performance.
The health program includes calfhood and pre-weaning vaccinations, and the heifers have not been implanted. They have been managed in a straightforward commercial environment and are ready to continue performing for their next owner.
Cattle will be gathered early in the morning, sorted, hauled approximately 20 miles to Watford City, and weighed straight on the ground. Weight spread will show some normal variation, but there are enough numbers behind them to create a strong, marketable offering of quality commercial heifers.
