    Description
Dillon, Montana - 225 Black Baldy Replacement Heifers Weighing 840 lbs to Ship Mid/Late June. Fancy Heifers originally kept as replacements but due to drought conditions these are being moved to make more room and feed for cows. These are very nice black baldy replacements and it would be a shame for these cattle to go to feed. The females out of this cowherd have been developed over generations of cows for more than 70 years to make a cow that holds up very well in tough conditions, has plenty of structure to travel, great mothering instinct, and longevity to be productive well into their teens. It would be very hard to find another set with the background like this. The cow herd is a closed, ranch-raised program developed over 70 years, averaging ~1,300 lbs in working clothes. Cows are crossbred black baldies (≈⅔ Black Angus, ⅓ Hereford), and calves are sired by 100% horned Hereford bulls. Genetic testing confirms strong heart health, stayability, and longevity. For 70+ Years, The cow herd has been trailed 50 miles each spring to summer pasture over 4–5 days, calves at their side the entire way, then trail back home another 50 miles in the fall. 95%+ of branded calves make it back to the weaning corral. There are no foot or leg issues in the herd. It’s not uncommon to see 15–18 year-old cows, and some have aged out at 20+ years. This program produces a hardy, durable female built to last. These heifers have lots of bone, good frame, light flesh, and are fairly even. Steer mates have been fed to 1,600+ lbs. Hardy, tough, crossbred cattle with real hybrid vigor.
